The most important thing when taking care of clients in their home is to make a good match. Things like a person’s skill level, training, personality and geographical location are all things to be considered when making the perfect match. We try to send the same caregivers on each case so that a lasting friendship or bond could be achieved. Building the relationship with the client is also a key part in being successful. The client must feel comfortable and connected to their caregiver so trust can be formed. TLC gives the caregiver an opportunity to be successful in these relationships and therefore they create new opportunities for more work themselves if they excel!
Requesting that all of our employees be able to drive our clients to appointments and on errands is a prerequisite to employment. Due diligence must be done in checking drivers abstracts and declaration pages for proper liability insurance. We maintain copies in their files.
We are looking for caregivers who have these traits:
A Companion or Homemaker should be comfortable with preparing light meals, shopping, running errands, and light housekeeping duties. They should be good listeners and decision makers, patient and able to assist in many different types of home situations. They must be 21 years of age, have a valid drivers license, have reliable transportation, and pass a level one background check. Previous employment and personal references will be checked.
A Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide must be Certified by the state of New Jersey. Certification period is valid for two years and must be current; you must produce your Certification. A CNA or CHHA should be experienced and competent with bathing and toileting clients, dressing and grooming, mouth care, foot care and nail care, incontinence issues, managing range-of-motion exercises, and assistance with feeding. We will call all of your previous employers from the past 5 years. Personal references are also very important to establish your character, values, and work ethic. You must be compliant with TLC HomeCare Services drug & alcohol policies. You must have proof of auto insurance. Appropriate attire including closed toe shoes must be worn. You will go through a TLC HomeCare Services complete orientation program, and must be knowledgeable about the type(s) of care you deliver. You are required to maintain your CEU’s yearly and provide us with proof.
